The Cerebral Palsy Center of Expertise is a part of the center for Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine in VU University Medical Center Amsterdam.

What is Cerebral Palsy?

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a posture and movement disorder caused by damage or abnormal development of the brain.  CP occurs in the early development of a child – during pregnancy, birth, or in the first year of life. CP is the most common cause of (motor) disabilities in children in the Netherlands.  Often there are other problems, such as epilepsy, learning problems and communication constraints.
